YV Proverbs 4:25-27

What’s The GOAL You Really Want to Accomplish in the NEXT 100 Days?

Every day is a gift. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. How can we make the most out of the precious days we are given to live here on earth?

We will be heading into the summer months relatively soon. Life and work rhythms will be different for you, your family, friends, co-workers and clients. What adjustments do you need to make or prepare for? Have you made any personal plans to take some time off for rest or a vacation?

When I published this article, it was Wednesday, May 8, 2024. If you’re reading this article within a couple of weeks of when I published it, the end of the NEXT 100 days would fall somewhere within the last couple of weeks of August. Labor Day would be right around the corner.

How would you make the most out of the NEXT 100 days?

God’s Word offers some great wisdom for us:

† Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT

In applying God’s Word to making the most out of the NEXT 100 days, here are some questions you might consider asking yourself:

  • Where are you at? Where do you want to be?
  • What do you value most in life and where is your greatest potential?
  • What possibilities do the next 100 days offer?
  • What would you need to give up in order to do what you really want to do, or to become who you really want to be?
  • What resources will you need in order to accomplish your goals?
  • Where will you find who or what you need to get there?

Three KEY Ingredients in the Planning Process

Whatever questions you may need to ask yourself, consider three other KEY ingredients in your planning process: (1) Prayer; (2) God’s Word; and (3) Godly counsel.

I can’t emphasize this enough: Make sure to PRAY first! Always pray first. When we pray first, we create that sacred space for the Holy Spirit to be present in our thinking, direct our thoughts, provide guidance through God’s WORD, and bring to light a plan of His making.

When we exercise trust in the Lord, we can count on Him to lead us through prayer, through His Word, and to surround us with the godly counsel we need to make our paths straight.

† Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.‬ ‭

Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6

The best laid plans will always give God room to show up, be present, make adjustments, do something better and perhaps something more than expected!

What’s your PLAN for reaching the goal(s) you want to accomplish in the NEXT 100 days?

Make a Plan Now

Let these verses encourage you to make a plan for the NEXT 100 days:

† The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5

† Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.

Proverbs 16:3

† Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.‬ ‭

Proverbs‬ ‭15‬:‭22

† Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21

Be Intentional about Working Your Plan

Once you have your plan, be intentional about working your plan. Set appointments in your calendar for specific action steps you need to take to reach your goal(s). And then, treat each appointment you set for yourself as if it’s a multi-million dollar deal. Give those appointments the importance you think they are really worth!

May the Lord be present in your thinking, direct your thoughts, grant wisdom through His Word and bring light to the best plan—His plan—to approach your day, your week, and this next season of your life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
