Caring for the SOUL is more about WHO we are > than WHAT we do.
If your identity is wrapped up only in your job (what you do for a living), you’ll never be able to rest because you will always suffer with an “identity crisis.”
God’s Creation
The world we live in is God’s creation, the product of His work. And our salvation is found only in the finished work of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. Furthermore, He is now exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, sovereign over all things in heaven and on earth!
God’s Work
While our work is temporary in nature, His work is eternal and for the benefit of our souls. Thus, forging an identity through our own work is a temporary and fleeting pursuit at best, while finding our identity in Him is eternal and everlasting.
An essential practice of “Soul Care,” is learning how to rest, remember and reflect on WHO God is in our lives. For it is by His work and grace that we have been saved (Ephesians 2:8), and find our true selves.
The One our souls are meant to bless!
For those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, He is the One our souls are meant to bless!
The Scriptures call our souls to bless the Lord and never forget that He is the One who defines our identity—who we are—not our job, nor the world.
He is One who still FORGIVES our sins and HEALS our diseases, who REDEEMS our life from the pit and CROWNS us with lovingkindness and compassion, and who still SATISFIES our desires with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Let this Psalm direct your heart today, as you learn to let your soul REST in His sovereignty and the sufficiency of His grace!
† Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy name!
Psalm 103:1
† Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits— who FORGIVES all your sins and HEALS all your diseases, who REDEEMS your life from the pit and CROWNS you with love and compassion, who SATISFIES your desires with good things so that your youth is RENEWED like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:2-5
Do you know the Lord? —> Receive Christ today!
