YV Psalm 46:10 NKJV

God doesn’t need PERFECT CONDITIONS to show up!

At times, a storm could be raging all around you and it can feel like Jesus is asleep in the back of the boat. However, it doesn’t change the truth that Jesus Christ is still Lord of all! And for those who have put their faith and trust in Him, that He is still in complete control of every area of their lives.

When Jesus’ first disciples found themselves in the middle of a raging storm on the Sea of Galilee, high waves were breaking into their boat and it began to fill with water. Asleep in the back of the boat with His head on a cushion, Jesus was the only one who not moving, not panicked, but in a place of peace in this moment.

In fear for their lives, the disciples woke Him up shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are going to drown?” (Mark 4:38) It’s a little humorous that in their distress, the disciples all of a sudden became prophets in this moment, telling Jesus how the future was going to play out.

But then Jesus spoke the words, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39).

It was in this moment of stillness, that the disciples discovered, “Even the wind and waves obey Him” (Mark 4:41).

The busyness, burdens and storms of life can often rob you of those “still moments and rhythms” you need in your life to know God more deeply. He knows you more intimately than you might realize and He wants you to know Him.

Don’t let the adverse circumstances you may find yourself in right now, steal this sacred space of blessing, joy and intimacy God still calls us to in order to know Him more deeply, and to be known.

It’s here, where you’ll learn to hear and recognize His reassuring voice with even greater clarity, especially when the storms of life come your way. And you’ll learn even more deeply, that God doesn’t need perfect conditions to show up!

May you hear His reassuring voice, speaking over your life today, “Peace, be still.”
